About Sylleste

Sylleste Davis is a longtime resident of Moncks Corner.  She is married to Michael Davis and together they have four sons - three adult sons and one a student at Berkeley High School.  Sylleste is a member of Moncks Corner United Methodist Church. 

She graduated from the College of Charleston in 1983, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics.   While at the College, Sylleste was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and College Republicans, and was President of the Panhellenic Council.  She was inducted into a number of honor societies in recognition of her scholastic achievements and leadership skills.  Sylleste was recently elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the College of Charleston Alumni Association and is a member of the Science and Mathematics Advocacy Board.

She began her thirty-one year career at Santee Cooper in the burgeoning field of information technology and earned her Master’s degree in computer and information resources management from Webster University.   She later held the positions of Manager, Wholesale Markets and Manager, Nuclear Contract Administration.  She has a wealth of expertise in planning, marketing, sales, contract negotiation and contract administration.  Sylleste retired from Santee Cooper in 2014.

Sylleste has devoted countless hours to volunteering for educational organizations and causes, including Read with a Child, Junior Achievement, Berkeley Middle School PTO, Berkeley Middle School Improvement Council, and the Berkeley High School Academic Booster Club, where she has served as Secretary and Treasurer.  She has chaired the Board of Trustees of the South Carolina School Improvement Council.

Her top five areas of focus include:

  • Ensuring continued job and economic growth;
  • Improving the quality of public education;
  • Addressing transportation and infrastructure needs;
  • Providing support for active and retired military, law enforcement, and emergency personnel to ensure the security of our nation; and
  • Protecting South Carolina’s rich natural and historic resources.
